General Notes
Mouse anti Human inhibin alpha antibody, clone R1 recognizes the alpha subunit of the 32 kDa human inhibin. A glycoprotein which acts to suppress follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion (Groome et al, 1990).Inhibin alpha is expressed in a range of tissues including the endometrium (Mylonas et al, 2004), brain (Uccella et al, 2000), adrenal gland (McCluggage et al, 1998), testis (Bergh and Cajander, 1990) and ovary (Cuevas et al, 1987, Yamoto et al, 1992). The antibody may be of value in the differentiation of adrenocortical tumours, placental and gestational trophoblastic lesions, and sex cord stromal tumours (McCluggage, 2001).In western blotting of bovine follicular fluid, bands at 20, 44 and 57 kDa were reported under reducing conditions using clone R1 (Groome et al, 1991).
