Antiserum was solid phase adsorbed to ensure specificity, and subsequently cross-adsorbed using mouse and rat immunosorbents to remove cross reactive antibodies. This antibody was isolated by affinity chromatography using antigen coupled to agarose beads. F(ab')2 fragments were generated using a pepsin digestion, and Fc fragments and whole IgG molecules were removed. F(ab')2 fragments were then conjugated to fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC).
