Principle of Assay
This kit provides a simple, convenient and rapid method for the detection of glutathione reductase activity, which is suitable for serum, plasma, animal tissues, cells, bacteria, etc. sample. The principle is that glutathione reductase can catalyze the reduction of GSSG by NADPH to generate GSH and NADP+. NADPH has a characteristic absorption peak at 340 nm, while NADP+ has no absorption peak at this wavelength; the NADPH dehydrogenation rate is determined by measuring the rate of decrease in absorbance at 340 nm and hence calculate glutathione reductase activity.
