This kit provides a convenient tool for detection of lysine. The principle is that the lysine in protein has a free epsilon-amino group, which can react with ninhydrin hydrate to produce a blue-purple substance, which has a maximum absorption peak at 570 nm. The lysine content of the sample can be calculated by measuring the absorbance at 570 nm.
