Mouse anti Human haptoglobin antibody, clone C08-1E10, recognizes haptoglobin, an alpha sialoglycoprotein. Synthesis of haptoglobin is induced by IL-6, IL-1 beta and TNF and it is produced as a pro-protein before it is cleaved in the endoplasmic reticulum by C1r-like protein, to generate the mature form (Redmond et al. 2018). Haptoglobin is composed of two peptide chains referred to as the alpha and beta chains. It is largely expressed by hepatocytes, but is also expressed to a lesser extent in lung, skin and kidney tissues (Vanuytsel et al. 2013). A key role of haptoglobin is its hemoglobin binding capacity, which is utilized during hemolysis to prevent iron loss and subsequent kidney damage. The haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex is removed by the CD163 receptor expressed on the surface of monocytes and macrophages (Sadrzadeh & Bozorgmehr 2004). Haptoglobin also plays roles in the innate and adaptive immune system and has anti-inflammatory activity such as inhibiting monocyte production of TNF, IL-11 and IL-12 (Arredouani et al. 2005).The biotinylated Mouse anti Human haptoglobin antibody, clone C08-1E10 (MCA6235B) can be used as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA with the purified Mouse anti Human haptoglobin antibody, clone E07-10E9 (MCA6234GA) as the capture antibody.
