General Notes
Diphtheria toxin is an exotoxin secreted by various strains of Corynebacterium diphtheriae that is the cause of diphtheria. The active toxin is a single chain of 535 amino acids composed of 3 distinct structural/functional domains; and N-Terminal ADP-ribosyltransferase (catalytic domain); a region which facilitates the delivery of the catalytic domain across the cell membrane (transmembrane domain) and the eukaryotic cell receptor binding domain.
