Allgemeine Hinweise
Mouse anti Human CD87 antibody, clone VIM-5 recognizes human CD87, also known as urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), a 50-65 kDa single chain glycosylphostidylinsitol (GPI) anchored glycoprotein, expressed by granulocytes, tissue macrophages, monocytes, endothelial cells, fibroblasts and mesenchymal and epithelial tumour cells. CD87 specifically binds and activates urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), a serine protease which converts the inactive receptor-bound proenzyme plasminogen into plasmin, triggering the proteolysis cascade of fibrinolysis. The interaction between uPAR and uPA is also known to play a role in cancer cell invasion and metastasis. Clone VIM-5 is reported to block urokinase binding.
