Name
Anti-CD83 Antibody [3D11] (FITC)
Description
Rat monoclonal [3D11] antibody to CD83 (FITC).
Specificity
This antibody recognises mouse CD83, a 45 kDa type 1 glyoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Originally described as a maturation marker for dendritic cells, CD83 plays a role in the regulation of antigen presentation, thymic T-cell maturation, B-cell function and peripheral T-cell activation. Activated dendritic cells and B-cells release a soluble form of CD83 that is reported to have an immunosuppressive effect, suggesting a therapeutic role for sCD83 in the regulation of immune disorders.
