This antibody recognises human defensin beta 3 (BD-3), a 45aa ~5 kDa cationic non-haemolytic antimicrobial peptide expressed by epithelial cells and member of the beta-defensin family. Defensin beta 3 is highly expressed in the skin and tonsils and at lower levels in other tissues. Defensin beta 3 plays an important role in the innate immune response to potentially pathogenic microbes, including multiresistant S. aureus and vancomycin-resistant E. faecium.

Reconstitute with 0.1 ml of distilled water. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. Gently mix after reconstitution. For long term storage the addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended.

Lyophilized: Store at -20°C. Reconstituted: Store undiluted at -20°C, avoid freeze / thaw cycles. Storage in frost free freezers is not recommended. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
