Name
Anti-Ceruloplasmin Antibody
Description
Sheep polyclonal antibody to Ceruloplasmin.
Specificity
This antibody recognises ceruloplasmin, a ~132kDa metalloprotein that is secreted into the plasma by liver hepatocytes and activated monocytes/macrophages. Ceruloplasmin functions in copper transport, iron homeostasis, antioxidant defence, angiogenesis and coagulation.Deficiency in ceruloplasmin is termed aceruloplasminemia, an autosomal recessive disorder which leads to iron accumulation and tissue damage, in particular in the brain and visceral organs. Clinical features include retinal degeneration, diabetes mellitus and neurological disturbances.Elevated plasma ceruloplasmin has been shown to pose an increased risk in atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction.
Applications
ELISA, IHC-Fr
