Biological Activity

Full-length adiponectin activates AMP-activated protein kinase in hepatocyte. Adiponectin also activates AMPK in HepG2 human hepatocytes at the concentration of 1 µg/ml. An in vitro gluconeogenesis assay which was performed in primary rat hepatocytes showed the murine adiponectin derived from mammalian cells can inhibit glucose production.
