This antibody recognises cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p27 (p27), also known as cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B or p27Kip1. The protein is a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor (CKI) that belongs to the Cip/Kip protein family. As the name implies, CKIs play a role in the regulation of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and cyclin-CDK complexes. Aberrant p27Kip1. levels have been reported in breast and colorectal cancers (Sgambato et al. 1997, Ogino et al. 2007).
