Name
Anti-BRCA1 (phospho Ser988) Antibody
Description
Rabbit polyclonal antibody to BRCA1 (phospho Ser988).
Specificity
This antibody recognises bRCA1, also known as breast cancer type 1 susceptibility protein and RING finger protein 53, when phosphorylated at serine 988. Breast cancer susceptibility genes BRCA1 and BRCA2 are associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancers. BRCA1 is a tumor suppressor gene encoding an E3 ubiquitin protein ligase that plays a major role in DNA damage repair. BRCA1 is also involved in the regulation of multiple processes including transcription and cell cycle progression. BRCA1 co-localizes with Chk2 in nuclear foci, in response to DNA damage BCRA1 is phosphorylated at serine 988 by Chk2. This phosphorylation event results in the release and dispersion of BRCA1 and is suggested to be important for the function of BRCA1 in the DNA damage response.
