Principle of Assay
This kit provides a simple, convenient and rapid alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activity detection method, which is suitable for the detection of animal tissues, bacteria, serum (plasma) and other samples. The detection principle is that ADH catalyzes the NADH-dependent reduction of acetaldehyde to ethanol and NAD+. NADH has a characteristic absorption peak at 340 nm, but NAD+ does not. Determination of the rate of decline in 340 nm absorbance allows calculation of ADH activity.
